Helloo, welcome to my website!
I am a second year Ph.D. student in the Center for Geospatial Information Science, University of Maryland, College Park. Working under the supervision of
Dr. Taylor Oshan at the
Spatial Multiscale Analytical Science Hub (S.M.A.S.H) research group, I hope to use spatial analytical modeling and machine learning to better understand human processes within urban environments. Read more about my research
here. Before coming to Maryland, I studied at the University of Lagos, Nigeria, and graduated with a first-class bachelor’s degree (Summa Cum Laude) in Urban and Regional Planning (U.R.P). I majored in urban informatics and carried out my final year dissertation under the supervision of
Professor M.E Agunbiade. For my project, I
proposed a framework for aggregating population figures at micro levels within a larger geographic jurisdiction using high-resolution spatially disaggregated population data estimates. QGIS, Python programming language, and machine learning techniques were used for spatial and raster analysis, data visualization, and zonal statistics.
Beyond academics, I have over three years of software engineering experience as well as experience building and deploying deep machine learning models, I have also worked on and built some open source projects (
available on my Github). You can find the rest of my skills in the skill section of my linkedin profile or on my CV. Please, feel free to reach out via any of my social links (preferably email) or setup a virtual meet with me on
calendly if you want us to work together or you just want to say hello :-)
In my free time, I enjoy music (some self-taught guitar, piano), watching football, and driving for recreational purposes.
